Too often times hunters like to talk and brag about their successes, but little is ever written about our failures. I often hear, and I have said it myself, that "it's not about getting an animal, it's about being in the woods." Quite frankly, while some truth may exist in that statement
I never understood why some hunters get offended or downgrade other hunters because of their style. I posted a photo on our social media sites the other day that had a photo of Fred Bear. It had a saying which read "you can learn more about hunting deer with a bow & arrow in a week than a gun hunter will learn in his entire life." It was simply a quote from someone I admired as a hunter. It surely wasn't a dig at gun hunters. Based on some of the comments, obviously some people took offense.
Nothing makes you think about life quite like death. Unfortunately, over the last year I have thought about life a lot. I have never been one to talk about my feelings or open up to people. It drives my wife crazy and has caused several problems with us in the past. I also know its not healthy. Maybe it's how I was raised, but t's just how I have always dealt with my issues. Sometimes I do cry though.
